As of today, confirmed cases of COVID19 worldwide just passed the 1 million mark. As predicted by so many of the models that have been circulating on the internet. Public pressure is increasing in Canada for the government to share its own projections for "the COVID surge" which I suppose means when provincial and territorial health systems reach or go beyond capacity. It still feels surreal despite the last few weeks.
With the Ontario education ministry still scrambling to set up online teaching, I am getting slightly annoyed at the barrage of emails from teachers sending me "online resources". Gah. The South Koreans, Italians, and Japanese seem to have their act together--online learning has been underway for weeks, and younger kids have had Minecraft graduations, their avatars receiving scrolls. I am in awe of the perseverance and creativity educators can have in times of crisis. In the meantime, homeschooling Week 3 continues, with IXL math and language arts, and Duolingo for French. The seedlings are sprouting, and I'll put that down to "nature class" or something!
